DIISM started its activities in November 2012, when the former Department of Information Engineering (Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione - DII) joined
the former Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (Dipartimento di Scienze Matematiche ed Informatiche "R. Magari" )
The Department consists of 80 scientists , whose research and education activities cover the fields ranging from engineering to mathematics and computer sciences.
